Synopsis of "Midnight City Part IV"[]

Devil is at the MCPD building. A man takes his prints, and a picture of his face and finds out who he is with it. His name is Bart Hill. He grew up with two loving parents, he went to school regularly, he was all around a normal kid. That is until one day when a man in a mask busted in to his home, and killed his parents in the most brutal ways possible. He then spoted Hill, who had saw the whole thing and branded him with a hot iron shaped like a boomerang. However, this turned out to be a bad move, as Hill knocked the killer on his back, grabbed the hot iron, and killed the man with it. After this, Hill was sent to an orphanage, which he ran away from when he was fifteen. By the time he reached adulthood, he had already made a name for himself as he killed many different criminals. But he did not become the Death Defying Devil until he was twenty years old. It is also revealed why Devil never spoke this whole time: he can't, the trauma from seeing his parents' murder was too much for him, so he stopped talking, and eventually became mute. Back in the present day, the police officer comments on how brutal Devil's past is, only to realize that while he was reading about him, Devil has escaped. The officer runs outside and sees a group of tied up officers. Outside the building, Devil walks off wearing a police uniform. He makes his way back to his home, where he puts on a spare costume, and swears to find out who the real killer is.

Trivia[]

  • Hill's origin story is almost exactly the same as his original one.
  • Hill's boomerang brand is implied to be the reason he is seen using a boomerang as his weapon throughout the comic.
  • Even after revealing who he is, Hill still only refers to himself as "Devil", as if he doesn't consider himself to be Hill anymore, only Devil.
